Custom Metalwork FAQs
Answers to the project, material, manufacturing and delivery questions to review before ordering custom metalwork.
Starting a Project
What information should I send for a custom metalwork quotation?
Send your drawing, CAD file, rendering or reference image, together with approximate dimensions and quantity. Include material and finish requirements if available.
You do not need every technical detail to begin. Our quotation preparation guide explains what helps the first review.
Can FABRITERA manufacture from drawings, CAD files, renderings or reference images?
Yes. Client design information is reviewed from a manufacturing perspective, and the fabrication details needed to produce the work are developed before production.
A photo or reference image can also be a starting point, with dimensions and specifications confirmed for the project.
Do I need to have a complete design before contacting FABRITERA?
No. Send the information you have, even if it is only an initial concept with approximate dimensions. We will identify what still needs to be confirmed for manufacturing and quotation.
What materials and details are confirmed before production?
Depending on the product, confirmation covers dimensions, drawings, materials, finishes, connection details and lighting requirements.
Stainless steel can be combined with glass, acrylic, mesh, crystal or lighting where the project calls for it. Interfaces and final specifications are reviewed for the actual assembly; see Displays & Integrated Features.
Do you have a minimum order quantity?
We accept one-off custom orders. A single custom piece can be manufactured, as well as larger quantities for commercial and project applications.
Materials & Customization
What stainless steel grades can you work with?
Available stainless-steel grades include 201, 304 and 316. The appropriate material can be selected according to the product, application and project requirements.
Can stainless-steel finishes and colours be customised?
Yes. Options include brushed, hairline, mirror, decorative and PVD-coated finishes. Customers can select FABRITERA finish references or provide a physical colour sample for matching.
Colour appearance varies with lighting, viewing angle and material conditions. Final colour and appearance are confirmed against the agreed finish reference before production. See Surface Finishes for the selection library.
Do you review whether a design is suitable for manufacturing?
Yes. Before production, drawings and project information are reviewed for structure, materials, fabrication methods, assembly and transport requirements.
Issues affecting manufacturability or the finished result are discussed with the customer. See Capabilities for the manufacturing process.
What happens if part of the original design is difficult to manufacture?
FABRITERA does not change the customer's design without approval.
If a detail is impractical to manufacture, the issue is explained and a more manufacturable solution proposed while preserving the original design intent as closely as possible. Relevant changes must be confirmed before production.
Quotation & Manufacturing
How long does it take to receive a quotation?
Quotation timing depends on the project information available and the review required. Complex projects may require additional review.
What is the typical production lead time?
Production lead time is confirmed for each project before production.
Actual lead time depends on structure, quantity, material availability, surface finishing, product complexity and the production schedule.
How is quality inspection handled before delivery?
QC personnel and the project team inspect the finished work. Depending on the product, checks cover dimensions, squareness, alignment, weld quality, surface appearance, lighting, fittings and assembly condition.
Complete finished units are inspected in their finished condition. Sectional products are also checked in their assembled configuration before packing.
When is factory trial assembly required?
Products that must be shipped in sections are fully pre-assembled at the factory to check fit, alignment and connections. They are then disassembled, numbered, protected and packed.
Products manufactured and delivered as complete units proceed through final quality inspection without an unnecessary separate trial-assembly stage. Read why full trial assembly matters for the distinction.
Packing & Company
How are oversized or modular products prepared for overseas installation?
Size, connections and module divisions are reviewed around transportation and site access. There is no single fixed maximum size for all custom products.
Overseas installation is normally carried out by the client's local team. The Foshan project case shows how only the two oversized partitions required sectional fabrication and crane access.
How are products identified, protected and packed for export?
Component numbering and installation markings help identify sectional products for reassembly. Packing is planned around the product and intended assembly sequence.
Mirror-finished stainless steel normally uses PVC protective film; other finishes may use foam or EPE. Wooden-case packing and additional protection are selected for the structure, glass and transportation requirements.
Is FABRITERA a manufacturer or a trading company?
FABRITERA is the international brand of Foshan Xinlianxing Metal Products Co., Ltd., the custom metalwork manufacturer based in Foshan, China.
See About FABRITERA for the manufacturing company and teams behind the work.
