Understanding Antique.

Colour variation, patina character, underlying texture and panel arrangement.

Appearance & process

Antique brings an aged or patinated appearance to stainless steel, including copper, brass and bronze colour directions. Local ageing creates variation across the surface of a sheet. Underlying textures may also differ: the fierce-flames example combines Vibration with an Antique treatment. Select the complete appearance rather than assuming that the word Antique identifies one uniform pattern or colour.

Visual characteristics and advantages

Light and dark variation gives a metal surface an aged visual character. It can bring a warmer colour direction into a decorative feature and relate to wood, stone or other interior materials. The selected reference determines whether the variation reads as subtle or prominent.

Selection considerations

Confirm the stainless steel substrate, underlying texture, colour treatment and any protective layer separately. Terms such as antique bronze or antique brass describe an appearance here; they do not by themselves specify solid bronze or brass. Agree acceptable variation across components before production.

Architectural applications

Discuss an antique appearance for restaurant wall features, hotel entrance details, decorative furniture or display metalwork. For repeated panels or frames, explain the overall colour balance and degree of variation you prefer. The review should include the surrounding materials, lighting and visible joints.

Fabrication considerations

Identify visible seams, returns and areas requiring matching treatment after joining. For a multi-panel surface, provide the arrangement and viewing direction so appearance continuity can be considered. FABRITERA reviews the manufacturing details and confirms the agreed finish and colour reference before production. A selected Antique appearance is not a requirement for every mark to be identical.

Questions to help your selection

Is antique bronze stainless steel made from solid bronze?

Not necessarily. In this reference family, bronze describes an aged colour direction on stainless steel. Confirm the actual substrate and surface construction for the selected product.

Will every panel have identical antique markings?

Do not assume identical markings. Agree the overall tonal character and acceptable variation for adjoining panels or repeated components.

Care & protection

Ask for the cleaning method applicable to the supplied Antique treatment, including any protective layer. Explain if the component will be frequently touched, exposed to moisture or cleaned regularly. These conditions form part of the project review and should accompany the selected visual reference.

What to share with us

Send the selected reference code with a drawing, CAD file, rendering or reference image, approximate dimensions, quantity and intended environment. Mark the visible faces and explain how the component will be used. If you have a material grade, colour sample or cleaning requirement, include it. FABRITERA reviews the manufacturing details and confirms the agreed finish and colour reference for the proposed component.
