Laminated Stainless Steel Finishes
Laminated stainless steel combines a metal substrate with a decorative film layer. Browse wood-grain and stone-effect references, then confirm the film construction, visible pattern and edge treatment for the proposed assembly.

Understanding Laminate.
Film construction, pattern alignment, edge treatment and environment.
Appearance & process
Laminate combines a stainless-steel substrate with a decorative film. Wood-grain, marble and tile-effect references describe the visible design of that layer. Decorative film constructions may use PET or PVC. Confirm the film type for the selected product, including its pattern and surface requirements. The matt-black tile example below uses a decorative PVC film on a 2B or BA stainless-steel base.
Visual characteristics and advantages
A decorative layer introduces a wood-grain or stone-like visual direction into a metal component. It provides an alternative appearance to exposed polished or brushed stainless steel. The selected film, pattern alignment and visible edges determine how that direction reads in the finished feature.
Selection considerations
Confirm the actual decorative film, including any PET or PVC construction, for the chosen reference. Discuss cut edges, returns, openings and the processing sequence. Moisture, heat, cleaning and exposure requirements need to be reviewed for that construction. A temporary protective film is separate from the permanent decorative layer.
Architectural applications
Discuss laminated references for decorative wall panels, furniture metalwork, cabinetry-related components or display features in commercial interiors. Show adjoining materials and how the pattern should run across panels. The film and substrate combination is reviewed for the intended location, contact and cleaning conditions.
Fabrication considerations
Supply dimensions, returns, openings and edge details. Discuss how the decorative layer is treated at cut edges, corners and joints, and how the processing sequence relates to any forming or joining. FABRITERA reviews the component construction around the agreed material and appearance. Avoid selecting a film-coated reference independently of the part’s edge and interface design.
Questions to help your selection
Is wood-grain laminated stainless steel made from wood?
The wood-grain description refers to the decorative appearance. This family uses a stainless steel substrate with a decorative layer; confirm the actual film construction for the chosen reference.
Can a laminated finish be used outdoors?
Do not assume outdoor suitability from the pattern or photograph. State exposure conditions so the specific film, substrate and component construction can be reviewed.
Care & protection
Request care guidance for the actual decorative film, including the proposed cleaner and any exposure to moisture, heat or regular contact. Film composition and application requirements must be confirmed for the selected construction. A temporary protective film used during fabrication is recorded separately from the permanent decorative layer.
What to share with us
Send the selected reference code with a drawing, CAD file, rendering or reference image, approximate dimensions, quantity and intended environment. Mark the visible faces and explain how the component will be used. If you have a material grade, colour sample or cleaning requirement, include it. FABRITERA reviews the manufacturing details and confirms the agreed finish and colour reference for the proposed component.
