Hammered Stainless Steel Finish

Hammered stainless steel has an indented relief that gives the surface a visibly worked texture. Compare the size, density and distribution of the marks alongside base reflection and colour for the proposed component.

Understanding Hammered.

Indentation character, surface variation, base reflectivity and construction.

Appearance & process

Hammered metal develops its relief through individual hammer-like strikes that create indentations in the surface. Hand-beaten stainless-steel constructions are included in this family. Different marks and their arrangement create different visual directions, including the BA-finish example below. The selected reference establishes the intended texture; the name Hammered alone does not define a fixed indentation size or pattern repeat.

Visual characteristics and advantages

Individual indentations divide reflections into a varied surface character. The texture can become a prominent focal detail or a subtler layer within a larger feature. Its visual value comes from the agreed relief and variation, rather than identical marks on every part.

Selection considerations

Review the selected relief with edges, returns, bending and joining. A hand-beaten example does not establish that every reference is made by hand. Confirm the manufacturing route, material thickness and appearance variation for the actual component.

Architectural applications

Discuss hammered surfaces for decorative wall elements, furniture components or feature metalwork in restaurants and hospitality interiors. Show the intended viewing distance and the materials around the feature. For several components, agree how similar their overall texture and colour should be.

Fabrication considerations

Provide finished dimensions, edges, returns and the location of visible joints. Review the selected relief alongside bending, joining and component construction. The BA hand-beaten sheet example is listed above 2.0 mm thick; it is one example sheet specification rather than a thickness requirement for every Hammered reference. Final thickness and processing are confirmed for the actual part.

Questions to help your selection

Is every hammered stainless steel reference hand-beaten?

No such assumption should be made. The library includes a hand-beaten example, but the manufacturing method for the chosen component is confirmed separately.

How should hammered textures match across panels?

Agree the overall indentation character, density and colour balance. Provide the panel arrangement and define acceptable variation rather than expecting each mark to repeat exactly.

Care & protection

Request cleaning and handling guidance for the actual base finish and any colour or patina treatment. Describe areas subject to frequent touch or regular cleaning. Record the agreed texture, appearance variation and colour reference together before production.

What to share with us

Send the selected reference code with a drawing, CAD file, rendering or reference image, approximate dimensions, quantity and intended environment. Mark the visible faces and explain how the component will be used. If you have a material grade, colour sample or cleaning requirement, include it. FABRITERA reviews the manufacturing details and confirms the agreed finish and colour reference for the proposed component.
